SFUSD Early Education Department is launching their 2nd Cohort of Samoan Dual Language Learner Pathway Program at Leola Havard EES (In Bayview District) 2022-23 School Year!
 
 Applications for the PreK program in ongoing. 
 
To be eligible for PreK, children must turn 3 years old on or before December 1st of the year they wish to enroll.

This month, we are spotlighting our amazing Pacific Islander community members (Pictured below: Heaven Anoa'i, Epi Aumavae, Reno Anoa'i, Fa'auuga Moliga, Victoria Filimoehala-Egan, Carl Johnson, Nackie Moli) who volunteered their time to read a loud to our elementary students at our Faitau Fridays Read-a-loud Literacy Program! In case you missed it...
On September 27th, 2022, Members of the Pacific Islander Community in San Francisco gathered in front of San Francisco City Hall. The S.A.L.L.T Association hosted a press conference to mark the 1st reading of the Pacific Islander Cultural Heritage District proposed for Visitacion Valley Sunnydale Neighborhood. On September 29th, 2022, many gathered at the Samoan Community Development Center for the presentation of the Kāpasa Fetu'u - Community Needs Assessment. More than 360 participated in the needs assessment conducted by the Pasifika Urban Roots. Highlights of community strengths and needs. Key findings and recommendations were also shared. On September 30, SF State University hosted SFUSD's 2nd College Access Convening Event! This event was packed with our amazing SFUSD Counselors, administrators, teachers who support college access from all SFUSD high schools & Community Based Organizations! Success! Shout outs to KBS, College and Career Readiness Team and Koreena Ortiz for the interviewing Pacific Islander students and sharing their voices on screen!

Please consider attending and/or sharing the upcoming UC Application Workshop hosted by the Pacific Islander Initiative in partnership with the Office of Undergraduate Admissions at UC Berkeley. We’ll be gathering on zoom this Friday, October 14th from 5:30p - 7:30p PST. Visit tinyurl.com/UCPIApply to register!
 
Participants will learn more about the UC Application process directly from an admissions representative, and will connect with current Pasifika students at UC Berkeley. This workshop is intended for prospective students and their families who are considering pursuing an undergraduate degree at the UC. The space is open to anyone who would like to learn more about the UC Application process. Captioning will be available.
