June - it's Pride Month!

In honor of Pride Month, the Fa'aSamoa Initiative Team shouts out UTOPIA San Francisco!

The United Territories Of Pacific Islanders’ Alliance (U.T.O.P.I.A) originated in San Francisco, California in March 1998. The organization was formed to provide support to Pacific Islanders LGBTQ Community and Allies. Originally, the group identified themselves as GPAC (Gay Polynesians Alliance/California). In February 1998, the name was changed to U.T.O.P.I. A.

So much happened during Pacific Islander Heritage Month. To get a snippet of some of the ways Pacific islanders in San Francisco-Bay Area celebrated the month of May, I would refer you over to our Pacific Islander organizations social media pages. On their pages, you will find livestreams of events, Talanoa (talkstory) sessions, to shout outs everyday of the month of May to Pacific Islanders as we honored and paid homage to our ancestors, our heartworkers, educators and youth:
