Lauloa Pasefika just launched their FREE Samoan Language Summer Classes! Classes are open to all K-12 SFUSD students interested in learning Samoan Language during the summer.
7 Weeks: June 6th-August 4, 2022.
Classes are Mondays & Wednesdays via Online, Zoom.

VASA High School Pathway!
Are you a sophmore, junior, or senior attending high school in the San Francisco Unifed School District?
Sign up to take college classes that can earn you a certificate from the City College of San Francisco and a head-start to an Associate's in Arts (AA) degree!
Courses in the program will cover Pacific Islander histories, identities, cultures, and experiences in the U.S.

This Saturday, June 11th - Samoan Solutions will be presenting,
FAGOGO Larger Than Life, a photo exhibit created to portray some of our Samoan Stories & Traditions.
This collection of photos features the participants of our 7 week FAGOGO Samoan Arts & Culture Workshop Series & Fagogo Alumni. Through creative collaboration with The Living Room Media @petey_petey209 & @tuiandco, we share some of the stories & traditions our participants learned over the last 7 weeks. In addition, the exhibit will feature our Lumana’i Education Gift Recipients of 2022.

SFUSD Early Education Department is launching their 2nd Cohort of Samoan Dual Language Learner Pathway Program at Leola Havard EES (In Bayview District) 2022-23 School Year!
This program is in partnership with Leola Havard EES, Early Education Department, Fa'aSamoa Initiative, SFUSD Matua Advisory Council, Samoan Community Development Center, and SALLT Association.
We are currently accepting applications for the PreK program. To be eligible for PreK, children must turn 3 years old on or before December 1st of the year they wish to enroll.

The United Territories Of Pacific Islanders’ Alliance (U.T.O.P.I.A) originated in San Francisco, California in March 1998. The organization was formed to provide support to Pacific Islanders LGBTQ Community and Allies. Originally, the group identified themselves as GPAC (Gay Polynesians Alliance/California). In February 1998, the name was changed to U.T.O.P.I. A.

On May 26th, Leola Havard EES held their first PK Sāmoan Dual Language Program Promotion! Twelve of the first cohort of PK students in Sāmoan Dual Language program were promoted to either TK or Kindergarten for Fall 2022! The graduates shared the Sāmoan Language and Culture in the form of Sāmoan Speech, Songs, Chants, and Cultural dances such as the Sāsā and ending the event with the traditional dance called the Taualuga! Shout out to Ms.Epenesa pictured above! Also thanks to her Cultural Ambassador, Lele Easter Taylor, Principal Lewis, Ms.Debbie, Ms.Diane, Ms.Adriana and the entire Leola Havard staff and all the Pacific Islander organizations and families who supported in the planning! |

So much happened during Pacific Islander Heritage Month. To get a snippet of some of the ways Pacific islanders in San Francisco-Bay Area celebrated the month of May, I would refer you over to our Pacific Islander organizations social media pages. On their pages, you will find livestreams of events, Talanoa (talkstory) sessions, to shout outs everyday of the month of May to Pacific Islanders as we honored and paid homage to our ancestors, our heartworkers, educators and youth:
