The annual Support for Families of Children with Disabilities (SFCD) Information and Resource Conference (IRC) is an opportunity for families with children with disabilities and those who support them to gather in community, learn from experts in the disabilities field and find resources that can support their children on the path to academic and life success.

SFUSD NH&PI Racial Affinity Administrators Group is hosting their last racial affinity session of the 2021-2022 SY in person and with family and friends!
 
There will be Food, Music, Games, and Raffle prizes! 
 
Special ukulele jam session with Glenn Castro! If you have ukulele, bring it and jam together! We will also have extra ukuleles just in case!

 Pacific Islander Power Lunches on Mondays
at Visitacion Valley Middle School started this week and will run through May 2022!  
 In honor of Pacific Islander (P.I) Heritage Month, students and faculty will be able to chat with P.I. leaders and mentors every monday during lunchtime - lunch included. Topics covered during this series are cultural pride, re-education, language, growth, civic engagement, music, media, indigenous practices, arts, health, career and trades track, college track, social justice, sports, values of love, respect and service that are central to our P.I. cultures.

Highlighting one of our SFUSD students, Mikey and Teacher, Ms.Faga at the 3rd Fagogo Arts & Culture Workshop that took place on Saturday, April 23rd.  
 
Here they are tuning up the Ukulele and counting the number of taps on the drum!
 
Highlighting also our very own SFUSD PreK Samoan Dual Language Teacher, Ms.Epenesa Taylor-Togiai was on Essence of Mana's Talanoa Tuesdays as their special guest last night!
 
She shared a snippet of her journey as an educator, and being a PreK Teacher and teaching the 1st PK Samoan Dual Language Class in SFUSD!

Dr. David Palaita and UrsulaAnn Siataga visits the SALLT Association at the Pacific Islander Resource Hut located in the SouthEast Sector of San Francisco! They will both be visiting community based organizations as well as High Schoold to share exciting information about the launching of the VASA High School Program in SFUSD in the near future!

UrsulaAnn Siataga got to visit Lowell and Balboa today! She had a chance to check in and meet with counselors, staff and students! 
Ms. Siataga also got to visit James Denman Middle School and met with the famous Ms. Make it Happen, Patricia Barraza, Beacon Director! They go way back - Balboa, United Playaz & Peer Resources Alumni days to name of few!

Ongoing Tongan Relief Efforts
 
An unprecedented natural disaster affected the Kingdom of Tonga last month caused by a Hunga-Tonga-Hunga-Ha’apai volcanic eruption. In an effort to support, Fa'aSāmoa Initiative team joined SF Tongan's Rise UP and various organizations in San Francisco to support with relief efforts. Donation items accepted are listed on flyer.

Kapelieli, our chemistry-loving robot will be joined by his friend Rebekah Pua Olena Novak, a Chemical Specialist at Thermo Fisher Scientific in our upcoming workshop, “Colorful Chemistry with Kapeli!”
